Jerry
Weinstein,
President and founder
A true entrepreneur in nature, when Jerry was first introduced to real estate, he saw it as a venue for all the elements of his interests. He is a native New Yorker, who has always had a deep appreciation for its history, culture, and architecture. As a businessman, he saw the need for a rental company that would offer everything available in Manhattan, a central marketplace for people to find what they were looking for rather than the traditional firm that was built on specific exclusives. Jerry's vision came together in 1984 when he opened Manhattan Apartments, Inc.—The Rental Marketplace.
Recognizing the honesty and commitment to integrity as well as the keen business sense with which Jerry conducted business, landlords felt a personal sense of trust for the rental applications he presented to them. Jerry closed all the deals for the first few years while the developing managers sat at his side learning how he expected business to be conducted. When he believed that they understood his ideals and every aspect of the industry, he gave up his chair to the Rental Director so that he could develop other areas of the company. Today, MAI rental marketplace has a database of over 4,000 rental landlords and presents as many as 50 rental applications a day for their 100+ a day clientele who visit one of the company’s three floors of rental offices.
In 1997, he expanded his operation to include sales and opened Manhattan Apartments, Inc.—The Sales Center of New York. This 6,000 square foot office specializes in the sale of cooperative and condominium apartments and building sales—primarily brownstones and townhouses. With 60 sales agents and experienced managers, Jerry was able to realize a successful operation within a short period of time. The Sales Center grows significantly each year and today it has expanded to include the on-site sale of apartments for new construction development projects. Manhattan Apartments, Inc—Development Division.
In 2001, after seventeen years of doing business with thousands of landlords, Jerry recognized a valuable information network had developed. On a daily basis, MAI managers and staff members learn about properties for sale from owners who want to sell. Other landlords express the desire to buy additional properties. Connecting these buyers and sellers took the company’s level of service to landlords to a new level. Owners can by and sell to one another in off market transactions and without the need to advertise. He calls this division of Manhattan Apartments Inc, The Landlord Network and formed MAI Investment Properties.
In 2005, Jerry also launched Manhattan Lofts, Inc. a division of Manhattan Apartments, Inc. specializing in the sale and rental of loft apartments. This division also employs the talents of affiliated architects and designers who can transform these raw open spaces into masterpieces in urban living.
And still, Jerry Weinstein is accessible to all, works closely with the staff and managers, and continues to inject ever-new and expanding ideas into the growth and development of what he justifiably envisions as the greatest brokerage house of residential and investment properties in New York City.
